Skypunch is a liminal bookshop and anti-disciplinary creative space, devoted to the places where artists made work or made their lives.
Every book is a door left ajar; Erica Bech is their keeper. Slipping between timelines and time zones, the project runs between Brooklyn and New Mexico, between 1960 and tomorrow, always halfway to somewhere else.

THE COLLECTION
The collection is Erica Bech’s personal working archive of art’s turn toward landscape, attention, and chance.
Each object here is chosen as evidence of how artists after 1958 left the gallery for the desert, the road, and the score. Books, ephemera, and editions together trace what was made and where.
The collection seeks strange, hard-to-find, and forgotten material with charge and spirit, in the hope that it opens new routes to reenchantment, detours, and drift. The Skypunch shelves hold artists’ publications, ephemera, prints, multiples, literature, the occasional unique find, and cute custom merch.

Field Studies are occasional expeditions where a question found on the page gets taken outside. Some have been land art pilgrimages, others fully designed retreats. Each takes the shape its question asks for.

IT STARTED WITH A BOOK
And before that, a crit. While at undergrad at MICA, Erica was making drawings as meditations, and a TA looked at them and offered one name: Agnes Martin. "Read her Writings", he said.
The recommendation kept quiet for over a decade, the way seeds do. Then came a long-awaited trip to New Mexico, taken to decide whether to leave New York, as Martin once had. Days before, Erica finally went looking. A secondhand copy from eBay arrived signed by the artist.
Some objects are just objects. Some are invitations. Some find you at the exact edge of a decision and hold the door. This one went along to Taos, into the mesa light Martin wrote about, and became the beginning of everything here.
